- 1 loaf of hearty multi grain Italian bread
- 4 eggs/or egg whites
- 1/4 cup of whole milk
- 1/4 cup of licor de cafe
- 1/4 cup of 10 x sugar
- 1/4 tsp of vanilla
- 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
Place the bread out and allow to set as you prepare the mixture. Combine the eggs, milk, licor de caffe, vanilla and cinnamon in a large bowl. (I prefer a small square casserole dish) Beat vigorously to mix the ingredients well. Quickly dip the bread in the mixture on both sides not to over soak but to coat both sides. Place on a non stick griddle at 350 degrees. Brown on both sides. Do not keep checking the Italian toast. Once it is on the griddle it takes about 3.5 minutes on each side.
Compliment with fresh berries, syrup and a light dusting of powder sugar
A variation is to cover with Organic crunchy peanut butter on the Italian toast and drizzle with syrup. (if you have food allergies, do not try this)
